Volunteer with Wayside

Whether as an individual volunteer or as part of a social, school, or work volunteer group, we need you! Your time and talent are a tremendous contribution to our mission and allow our staff to focus on what is most important—Wayside women and families in recovery!

Volunteer Opportunities

Examples of opportunities available to support our mission:

  • Outdoor grounds cleanup and gardening (in-person) – Whether you’re a group or an individual, we have outdoor cleanup needs for you! Note: Wayside provides bags for leaves/waste and some gardening tools, but volunteers are encouraged to bring any tools they may have to use (i.e., rakes, garden gloves, shovels, pruning shears, leaf blower, weed whip, etc.). In addition, our sites are also seeking donations of gardening supplies and outdoor tools. Current needs as of May 2024:
    • Family Treatment Center in Minneapolis: Volunteer needs may include weeding and removal of dead leaves, clean up of children’s playground area, possible painting of indoor offices.
    • Supportive Housing in St. Louis Park: In need of donations of plants, bushes, flower pots, flowers in hanging pots, etc. Volunteer needs may include weeding, removing dead leaves and dead bushes, and planting new flowers.
  • Hosting donation drives and/or packing gift bags for clients and their children
